Environmental Scientist, Water Quality
Coastal Resources, Inc. (http://www.coastal-resources.net/), an ecological consulting firm in Annapolis, Maryland, is seeking an Environmental Scientist with background and experience in aquatic ecology. The successful candidate will have 3 to 5 years related work experience and laboratory capabilities in benthic macroinvertebrate taxonomy (freshwater and/or marine). Preference will be given to applicants with at least 2 years of applied genus-level benthic macroinvertebrate identification. Society of Freshwater Science (SFS) Taxonomic Certification(s) a plus. The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of rapid bioassessment protocols, aquatic habitat, aquatic entomology, fisheries, statistics, and state and federal regulations related to water quality.
Candidates must have a Bachelors (minimum) or Master’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology or a related field. Coursework in aquatic ecology, aquatic entomology, fisheries, statistical analysis, environmental assessment, and environmental chemistry is desirable. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams. Position requires field work in all weather conditions, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a high level of teamwork in a fast-paced work environment.
