The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science invites applications for a Web
Content Specialist. The successful candidate will work with an established and dynamic
team in partnership with Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) staff at its office in Annapolis,
Maryland. The Web Content Specialist will be responsible for developing audience-focused
content which tracks the progress towards the goals and outcomes of the Chesapeake Bay
Watershed Agreement. The position will support accountability and transparency of the
CBP’s efforts to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay through the following:
 Implement and maintain the strategy for communicating online the progress
towards meeting the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement to diverse audiences
through ChesapeakeProgress and State of the Chesapeake.
 Work with subject matter experts to develop written content for partnership web
products that focus on tracking the progress towards the goals and outcomes of the
Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement.
 Work with subject matter experts to develop written content for partnership web
products that focus on adaptive management and the Biennial Strategy Review
System (SRS) such as ChesapeakeStat and ChesapeakeDecisions.
 Work with subject matter experts, the Indicators Coordinator and Communications
Team to develop and assist in the development of user-friendly content, including
news stories, social media content and media releases, for the status and trends of
indicators that track the progress of environmental health and restoration.
 Determine where visual content such as graphs, charts, maps, illustrations,
photographs and data visualizations can support web products and work with
partnership staff to develop such content.
 Participate in development of online or print products (such as annual CBP progress
reports) that communicate Chesapeake Bay Program progress.
 Utilize content management systems to enter, edit and manage the content of
partnership web products.
 Collaborate with the communications team in the development of an annual
editorial calendar and content strategy.
