    CAD Technician

    CAD Technician to work in our Annapolis, MD office. Candidate must have MicroStation (V8i) and AutoCAD (2013) experience relating to civil or environmental engineering and the ability to maintain and provide user support within all aspects of the CAD and drafting operations. 

    Responsibilities:

    Prepare forest stand and wetland delineation maps, forest conservation plans and wetland impact plates;
    Under direct supervision, prepare preliminary and final drawings for civil and water resources projects;
    Work from detailed sketches and verbal or written direction to produce computer-generated plans, cross-sections, details, figures, graphs, charts, overlays and simple isometric drawings;
    Work closely with project managers, environmental scientists and engineers to ensure drawings are accurate and completed on time;
    Edit word-processing documents and spreadsheets used in drawings and understand procedures for file saving, retrieving and transferring;
    Perform self-reviews of completed work to find and correct obvious errors before issuing the product for review by others. When the drawings are ready, aid in general office functions such as printing and folding drawings, deliveries and copying;

    Water Resources Engineer – Mid-Level

    Coastal Resources, Inc. is a small, woman-owned, ecological consulting firm located in Annapolis, MD.  We are currently accepting applications for a full-time Water Resources Engineer to work on various environmental and transportation projects.  Focus of work will be on water resources engineering pertaining to transportation infrastructure, NPDES, and environmental restoration projects. Primary focus will be on hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater management, and sediment control, and secondary focus will be on stream restoration and floodplain analyses. Perform analyses using software packages including HEC-RAS, HY-8, TR-55, and TR-20.

    The successful candidate will be capable of working effectively in both the office and field and should be skilled in coordinating with clients, including federal, state, and local agencies.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, self-starting team player who is organized and able to work effectively under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.

    Qualifications:

    Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk AutoCAD.  Proficiency with both preferred.
    4-6 years of experience in the design and/or review of water resources projects including stream restoration
    Knowledge of H&H modeling software packages required, including HEC-RAS, HY-8, TR-55, and TR-20
    Familiarity with UMD GISHydro or USGS StreamStats required

    Prepare SWM reports, plans, specifications and estimates for construction and grant applications
    Perform design and analyses of drainage ditches and linings, ponds, culverts and energy-dissipating devices
    Design storm drain systems including developing inlet spacing; storm drain calculations; and pipe profiles
    Erosion & Sediment Control permitting and design, including phased construction
    Develop water budgets for wetland mitigation sites and report results
    Prepare milestone submittals including plans, specifications and estimates for planning and construction
    Stream classification/geomorphology and assessment
    Stream restoration using natural channel design and threshold channel design
    Providing assignments and mentoring junior staff

    Water Resources Engineer or Environmental Scientist – Entry Level

    Coastal Resources, Inc. is a small, woman-owned, ecological consulting firm located in Annapolis, MD.  We are currently accepting applications for a full-time Entry Level Water Resources Engineer or Environmental Scientist.   The successful candidate will work closely with our existing team of hydrologists, biologists, geomorphologists, and engineers to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, collect and interpret field data, conduct watershed assessments, and provide technical support for stream and wetland enhancement/restoration, and SWM projects.

    Candidates must have a B.A or B.S. degree in civil or water resources engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field.  Coursework in hydrology, hydraulics, open channel flow, sediment transport, soils and/or geomorphology is desirable.  Experience in hydrologic data collection, topographic surveying, leading field crews, or proficiency in Microstation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, TR-20, Rivermorph or GISHydro software is a plus.  Stream restoration short courses are also helpful, but not necessary.  Candidates must have excellent writing skills and demonstrated experience working effectively both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams.  Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk AutoCAD preferred.
