Sunrise Sunset Susquehanna Paddle & Play

Show your love for your Mighty Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay on Saturday, July 22! There’s something here for everyone: environmental awareness paddle along an old logging run, live music of Don Shappelle, yoga by the riverbank and qi gong under the treetops, yoga on SUP on the Susq, water drumming with Grammy-award winner percussionist Steve Mitchell (think Charlie Brown/Peanuts gang specials), storytelling, environmental and outdoor education exhibits and family-friendly activities, balloon art (and responsible balloon and plastics disposal), nature photography workshop, and a cruise on the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat for bird watching (with Audubon Society), river gazing, song singing, and sweet-treat Susquehanna River sundae eating. Need more? Check out the event webpage, reserve your spot for the paddle and cruise, and find your way to Williamsport to show your love for the Mighty Susq and support the work of your Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper. See you on/in/near/by the river! P.S. If you can’t be there but would like to show your support, you can sponsor a paddler. One of the goals of the event is to get underserved youth on the river. We’d love your help. For more information: http://www.middlesusquehannariverkeeper.org/sunrise-sunset-susquehanna.html

    OSMRE VISTA Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper

    Heron Resized with Credit 2

No two days will be the same for this VISTA! With much work to be done, daily activities may include: preparing planning documents, writing social media posts and updating the organization’s website, interacting with visitors in the River Room at the new children’s museum, recruiting and training volunteers, visiting river towns, coordinating educational activities on land and water, supporting the work of citizen water quality monitors, planning and participating in awareness events, learning about the threats to the river and exploring possible solutions, and networking with environmental professionals and community leaders – all while making a difference! As an added bonus to the dog lovers, Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper program has a working-dog-in-training who is learning sewage leak detection skills to find pollution sources throughout the watershed. Susquehanna (Sussey) is a now one-year-old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever who spends most of his day with the Riverkeeper!
