Seeking:
For summer and or fall 2017: Energetic and physically healthy students (high school age 16+ or college) needed to assist in Forest Stewardship Program for the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC), a non profit land trust and watershed conservation organization located in Baltimore metropolitan area.

Conservation Corp will assist primarily to maintain 1,000 native planted trees at Loch Raven Reservoir, but may also conduct trail maintenance, invasive plant removal, rain barrel assembly and stream clean ups throughout the Gunpowder Watershed. Position is voluntary and can earn student service learning credits.

Required:
Student must be age 16+; must provide own transportation; and be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Hours will include Saturdays and or Sundays, and some weekdays.

High school student: 20 hours per month (5 hrs/wk) for a 1 month to 3 month commitment. Signed permission form by parent is required.

College student: 20- 40 hours per month (5-10 hrs/wk) for a 1 month to 5 month commitment.

Essential qualities needed include:
Honest, hard worker; ability to take instruction and apply consistently; eager to learn; willing to work outside in an open field environment with high, flowering and thorny weeds; willing to work in wet fields, the heat as well as cold temperatures; attention to detail; ability to work without direct supervision ; and able to take initiative.

The ideal candidate will have:
High school level: Interest in pursuing environmental studies at college level.

College level: Minimum of 1 year college level course work; working towards degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, botany, or natural history.
