Media Release – Pricklethorn Tour des Trees 2017

Tour des Trees Pricklethorn Flyer

Hi,

The 2017 STIHL Tour des Trees, a 7-day cycling adventure that is hosted in cities across the U.S. annually, is coming to National Harbor July 30-Aug 5.  The tour raises money for education and research around the importance and care of trees. The whole tour is about 500 miles, and begins with a 90-mile ride through Prince George’s County and Southern Maryland. (tour route – click here for a map).

The Accokeek Foundation is hosting the kick-off event here in Piscataway Park on Sunday, July 30. Approximately 80 cyclists will arrive at the Park at 8:45 am. There will be refreshments and a brief celebration before they depart around 10:15 am for the remainder of their ride through Southern Maryland.  Following the departure of the riders, there will be a brief children’s program to learn about the “secret life of trees” (flyer attached).

Can you share this with your networks? We would love to have a nice turnout for welcoming these cyclists at 8:45 am, as well as for the children’s program at 10:15 am. It’s all free.

Let me know if there is anyone special we should be inviting. Thanks!

Best,

Lisa
