Vote to help our local watershed group win a $50,000 award from Cox Enterprises and The Trust for Public Land (TPL).  – The Friends of Indian River is a local non-profit working to  improve the quality of life for all the residents of the Indian River neighborhoods of Chesapeake, Virginia, by promoting and preserving a healthy and clean river, shorelines, parks, and green spaces connected to the surrounding community.  Our founder, Rogard Ross, is the Virginia Nominee for the Cox Conserves Heroes program created by Cox Enterprises and The Trust for Public Land (TPL).    Rogard is the only nominee in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed!

The Friends of Indian River focuses on building partnerships to improve the local community and environment, working with the City of Chesapeake, the Elizabeth River Project, local civic leagues and others to maximize their impact.  Rogard is also a Clean Water Captain with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, a board member of the local Cape Henry Audubon Society, a Master Naturalist, and a citizen member and Vice Chair of the City of Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council.
