The Friends of Indian River focuses on building partnerships to improve the local community and environment, working with the City of Chesapeake, the Elizabeth River Project, local civic leagues and others to maximize their impact.  Rogard is also a Clean Water Captain with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, a board member of the local Cape Henry Audubon Society, a Master Naturalist, and a citizen member and Vice Chair of the City of Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council.
