The Chesapeake Bay Trust is seeking applicants to the Charles County Forestry Grant Program. The grant opportunity is available, in partnership with the Charles County Government, to individual and commercial landowners, non-profit community partners, and contractors. The goal of this program is to implement cost-effective reforestation projects (on a scale of 0.5 acres or larger) in the County to increase tree canopy and as a result create forest habitat and improve water quality in the county’s local watersheds and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay. Requests for this program will generally be up to $20,000. This program can fund site preparation costs, plant material, planting costs, one-year of maintenance costs, and for not-for-profit entities, project management costs.

This is a rolling grant program; however, grant decisions must be approved by the Trust’s Board of Directors. Applicants who are interested in spring projects are encouraged to apply by mid-December in order for their application to be considered during the Trust’s February Board meeting.
