This award will be presented to those individuals, schools, youth and adult organizations, civic organizations and other organizations that have volunteered their time and effort to preserve, protect, or plant trees in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Projects must have been completed in the 201or, if a continuing project, have been started in 2019 and have an anticipated life of more than one year.

Example of projects that can be nominated include: tree preservation actions, education programs, tree planting projects, and innovative maintenance programs.

An “Outstanding Individual Friends of Trees Award” may be awarded to any individual(s) who displays superior tree preservation and/or planting attitudes and actions.

Applicants must submit a written description of the project or program, benefits to the community, the planning involved, how problems were addressed and how the project will be maintained. Applicants should submit photographs or materials to illustrate the project. Please limit your application to seven pages: (see https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/publicworks/tree-commission/friends-trees-award for nomination form) and a maximum of five additional pages, including photographs and illustrations.

All nominations will be reviewed by the members of the Fairfax Tree Commission and winners will be selected in July 2020.  An awards ceremony will follow, with details to be announced.
