Now on the agenda for Friday, March 25th:


Keynote speaker: Adam Ortiz, EPA Region 3 Administrator.
 Administrator Ortiz will talk about his experiences, personally and professionally, in politics and regulatory offices as a Hispanic champion of the environment. He will discuss Environmental Justice, including his experiences and observations on how the Latino community intersects with environmental protection issues; exposures to pollution / other environmental justice concerns, recreational activities in natural spaces, attitudes towards waste and recycling, and more. There will be time for Q&A, too!

Hispanic Journalists Panel:
 Join Joeseph Martinez of Telemundo DC, and Pedro Biaggi and Candy Cintron of WLZL El Zol FM Radio for an incredible panel (in Spanish) about what it’s like to report on environmental issues affecting the Hispanic community. Moderated by Josefina Doumbia.

Latinx Elected Officials Panel: Prince George’s County Councilmember Deni Taveras, Montgomery County Councilmember Gabe Albornoz, and Dr. Gabriela Lemus of Maryland Latinos Unidos will share a panel on the importance of Latine representation in decision-making. Moderated by Abel Olivo.

Closing Plena concert: The end of the day will be celebrated with a Puerto Rican plena concert by Rafael Ortiz y el Tumbao Urbano. Join us for a moment of joy, celebration, and connection!
