The Chesapeake Bay Trust and the District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment Office of Urban Agriculture partner for the District of Columbia Urban Agriculture Small Award Program. The goals of this Request for Applications (RFA) are to support the increased infrastructure and operations at urban farms to advance strategies to support the success of agriculture initiatives for socially disadvantaged farmers. This award program seeks to provide funding to building capacity for crop production and distribution, and to increase knowledge within farmers and District residents through agricultural education experiences.

What this funds: Projects that increase food crop production, processing and/or distribution at an urban farm, improve distribution and access to fresh foods for communities of District Wards 5, 7, & 8, construct facilities that enable agricultural education experiences for District residents, accelerate the business and production capacity for socially disadvantaged farmers, and/or advance sustainable agricultural efforts in the District. Who can apply: The funding partners welcome requests from non-profit organizations, small businesses, schools and universities, government agencies physically located within the District. See the RFA for full list of eligible applicants.

How much can be awarded: Up to $10,000.

Is match required? In-kind and Cash match is not required but can be included, if necessary, to accomplish project goals.
