Earth Day is just around the corner, which might have you wondering what you can do to be greener and more sustainable. If planting trees in your community is something you’ve been wanting to do, then look no further! The Chesapeake Bay Trust and Anne Arundel County Forestry Board are accepting applications for the Anne Arundel County Community Tree Planting Mini Grant Program!

This mini grant program supports tree planting and invasive species removal to help communities and organizations increase the number of trees and tree canopy in neighborhoods, parks, and communities throughout Anne Arundel County. Tree provide a multitude of benefits such as filtering our air, preventing erosion and stormwater runoff, and providing habitat for our wildlife. Neighborhood by neighborhood, community stewardship projects are helping to raise public awareness about the health of our region’s tree canopy, watersheds, air quality, streams, rivers, and the Bay, as well as the steps that can be taken to restore and protect them.

What this funds: Community tree plantings and invasive species removal in Anne Arundel County.

Who can apply: Non-profit organizations, community associations, faith-based organizations, and more.

How much can be awarded: Up to $2,500 per project.
