Nominations for American Rivers’ annual report on America’s Most Endangered Rivers® of 2024 are now open! America’s Most Endangered Rivers® is one of the best-known and longest-lived annual campaigns in the environmental movement. Each year since 1984, local river advocates have teamed up with American Rivers to use the campaign to influence key decisions, consistently scoring VICTORIES for rivers and the communities through which they flow.

The report spotlights ten rivers every year, drawing widespread media attention and mobilizing public action that results in success stories for rivers, clean water, and communities. For the 2024 report, which we will release on April 16, 2024, we are particularly interested in receiving nominations that spotlight threats to national clean water safeguards, as well as nominations that illustrate how Tribal Nations and BIPOC communities are disproportionately impacted by climate and water crises. We encourage nominations that demonstrate how frontline leaders from these communities are advocating for innovative, locally driven solutions that will impact the future of the river movement.

This year, there is particular interest in highlighting rivers that will be threatened due to the changes in regulations regarding Waters of the United States.  Other threats to rivers are welcome as usual, we just want to include some case studies of this ruling’s impact.

We want your river to be nominated and get the recognition and support that it deserves.
