Our mission at Scaling Up Biochar is to promote a sustainable future by accelerating the application of biochar amendments in urban landscapes. Our ultimate objective is to reduce runoff and enhance water quality in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The primary goal of our project is to accelerate runoff reduction and improve water quality by enhancing existing Best Management Practice (BMP) performance through the use of biochar amendments in new projects and as retrofits to existing practices.
To help guide us, we are reaching out to bioretention media vendors across the country to gather information on the nationwide prevalence and use of biochar amendments. We are also interested in understanding the methods that companies employ to incorporate biochar into bioretention media.
