Sharing this request on behalf of our friends at the Coral Reef Encounter. It is a great event that fills up fast – so if you are interested in going register early – and please consider helping out as a volunteer too! Did you know that there are oyster reefs in the Chesapeake Bay? I learned that last year when I attended the event.
Dear Friends of a Healthy Environment:

The Coral Reef Encounter is a marriage of art and science, and folks have amazing time swimming/snorkeling/floating through the 450 ft of fabric floating fish and colorful coral made from all kinds of crazy objects.
One of our main goals is to teach kids and adults about the global importance of coral reefs and the dangers they face from ocean warming. We do this by showing short films about reefs and the ocean.
We need volunteers to make the Encounter possible. Would you be willing to contribute 2 hours of your weekend to help out during the Encounter on July 18, 19 or 20th?

We especially need volunteers to:

  1. Be In-the-Water Guides

  2. Help with fitting masks to little faces

  3. To teach kids why coral reefs are so important to our ecosystem. Kids with masks and snorkels in the practice area

  4. Help on Friday, July 18 for setting up the Reef
