Wetlands Watch is excited to announce that the Tides of Tomorrow: Jane Brinkley Thumm Memorial Arts Contest is now accepting submissions from high school artists across Virginia!

Rising tides and encroaching waters are reshaping Virginia’s coastline, leaving communities to confront the realities of sea level rise and flooding. This memorial art competition invites students to explore the profound impact of these environmental changes through creative expression.

Participants are encouraged to capture the beauty, challenges, and resilience of life on the edge of water through either visual artwork or recorded performative art. First place for each category will receive $500 and display or perform their work at our annual Catch the King Volunteer Appreciation Event in March 2026. Submissions are due on February 9, 2026.
