The Program Coordinator leads implementation of the Trash Free Schools program and supports implementation of Hard Bargain Farm and Bridging the Watershed programming. By building authentic relationships with administrators, teachers, school staff and students, the Coordinator will inspire schools to prevent and cleanup litter, while connecting students to the natural world. The target area will be the District of Columbia, Prince George’s County and other communities as directed such as Montgomery County and/or Northern Virginia.

 

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 Primary Role(s):

o   Lead planning for and implementation of the Trash Free Schools program [20-24 hours/week]

o   Build authentic relationships with partner schools with the goal of inspiring actions to prevent litter and cleanup communities

o   Conduct hands-on environmental education programming at schools related to trash and litter

o   Facilitate brainstorming, planning and implementation of student led action projects, including working directly with teachers, school staff and students

o   Coordinate and lead schoolyard cleanups throughout the year

o   Distribute Litter Campaign materials to schools including, posters, banners, Adopt A Litter Cans, reusable bottles etc.

o   Manage the Trash Free Schools guidebook, pledges, pre and post program surveys, end of year report cards and other TFS documentation

 Secondary role(s):

o   Implement education programming with students and adults

o   Teach students environmental education programs using the natural and agricultural surroundings, either at the Hard Bargain Farm or in national parks for both the HBF and BTW programs

o   Assist with other AFF activities.

o   Participate in special events: Spring Farm Festival, Oktoberfest, members’ events, and other AFF-sponsored events as

o   Participate in staff development, including staff meetings and trainings.
