Ridgely Manor Park in Towson was created on land impacted by the 1988 Hess oil spill, when over 80,000 gallons of oil leaked into the local groundwater. After years of cleanup and community advocacy, the site was transformed into a public park with support from environmental settlement funds. Today, it features native gardens, mature trees, and a playground for the community.
