Cleanup days are a great time for Bowie residents to get out into the environment and experience nature while working to protect our important natural resources. They walk along specific stream segments and pick up trash and litter at locations across the city.
We will have a kickoff event starting at 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot of Free State Shopping Center. Come for donuts and coffee, and hear from Councilmembers (invited) about our streams and the importance of the day. By about 9:30 a.m., folks can head to their cleanup sites. This year, we are working at the Shoppes at Bowie Town Center, behind the Giant in Free State Shopping Center, the Longleaf neighborhood off Governor Bridge Rd, and Old Town Bowie (off Zug Road). Students, be sure to bring your form to get student service learning hours!
Registration is required by April 8.
We would love to have your class, church group, or civic association join us, and we always have room for Scouts. We will provide volunteers with all supplies; you just need to have sturdy boots (or shoes), long sleeves, drinking water and/or a snack, and fun!
If you would like more information, email Tiffany Wright, the City’s Watershed Manager, or call her at 301-809-3043. Prince George’s County Public School students can receive service learning hours for participating, and Scouts can receive a Green Bowie patch.
