Salary: $38,500 – $42,500 ($77,000 – $85,000 annualized FTE hiring range); subject to qualifications

Description: The NVRC is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the part-time position of Solid Waste Coordinator. This position reports to the Director, Division of Environmental and Resiliency Planning. The selected candidate will promote and represent Northern Virginia’s priorities and actions in the areas of solid and hazardous waste through the coordination of the Northern Virginia Solid Waste Management Board and any associated subcommittee. Examines key issue areas and regional priorities from a legislative and program perspective. Seeks opportunities for coordination between local jurisdictions, with state/federal agencies, with industry, and with the public. Serves as the primary staff person supporting all facets of the Waste Board’s operations. Assists in identifying and procuring project funding.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or environmental planning; PLUS two years’ professional experience in the environmental field with experience in solid waste management.
Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree in a field relevant to solid waste or waste management.
