If you’re interested in professional development and networking opportunities in climate resilience, consider applying for the Emerging Leaders for Climate Action fellowship, deadline October 23rd.
ELCA is a six month fellowship for early-to-mid career professionals working across environmental justice, energy, and community resilience in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Fellows conduct community stakeholder consultations, research hyperlocal climate vulnerabilities, and co-develop policy proposals with the communities they serve, which the Fellows will present at the ELCA summit in spring 2027.

Fellows join collaborative working groups of 8–10 people, each focused on a specific community and climate issue:

  • Flood resilience — Capitol Heights, MD
  • Residential energy equity — Ward 8, DC
  • Extreme heat preparedness — Bailey’s Crossroads, VA

We welcome emerging leaders from any background — policy, engineering, finance, public health, law, or community organizing. What matters most is a genuine interest in climate resilience, a willingness to listen and learn alongside communities, and the drive to turn insight into impact. Applicants do not have to be local to D.C. but those who have strong connections to one of the three focus group areas are encouraged to apply.
