Come help us clean up Terrapin Beach Park for our Annual Kickoff Cleanup to start the season! Please read through the info below, and when you are ready, RSVP on our website!
WHEN DETAILS: All cleanups will be held on Saturday mornings starting at 8:00 am and running until noon, unless we finish early. You may come and stay as long or short as you wish…no pressure:)

AGE AND PARTICIPATION WAIVER: All ages welcome! But if you are under 18 years of age and plan on attending alone or with friends, you will NEED to have your parent or guardian sign our “participation waiver” prior to your arrival. You can print our participation waiver here on our website. *All volunteers must sign a participation waiver for each cleanup.* SUPERVISION OF MINORS: We require children that are 12 years of age and under must be accompanied by a parent, other adult or a sibling over 16. All children under 18 years of age and under must check in and those 12 years of age and under must check in with the parent, adult or sibling when they arrive. Those parents, adults or siblings attending the event with the volunteer 12 years of age and under, must agree to stay with the child at all times. Kent Island Beach Cleanups and its Board of Directors and/or any Representative of Kent Island Beach Cleanups is not responsible for the child.

SUPPLIES: We will provide all of our volunteers with cleanup supplies (gloves, buckets, trash bags, few pickers, etc) and a light snack. We will NO LONGER offer bottled water as this goes against our beliefs of consuming and using less single-use plastic. Please bring a reusable water bottle and we will have water available for you to refill your bottle.

We offer Student Volunteer Service Hours/Letters and Letters of Recommendation for regular student volunteers!

DIRECTIONS: Terrapin Nature Beach Park – 191 Log Canoe Circle, Stevensville, MD 21666

Take Exit for Rt. 8 North (Stevensville) from Rt. 50. Make your first left onto Skipjack Parkway. Turn left onto Log Canoe Circle. Entrance to Terrapin Beach Park will be on your left. Park in lot and take the RIGHT side path. Follow signs down to pavilion at beach.

Terrapin Beach is very important to KIBCU and its volunteers because of all the beauty it has to offer. The size and scope of the park and beach make it much more difficult to regulate, and trash is known to be hidden in the marshes and grassy areas where accessibility is not an option. Trash washes up on the beach from other areas and cities, and storms cause flooding that move trash and debris far back past the shoreline. The lack of regulation and monitoring by officials makes it a desired spot for visitors that wish to have privacy while fishing or relaxing on the beach. We believe that it is imperative that our cleanups take place on a monthly basis, at a minimum, to maintain the cleanliness of the park.

**These dates are subject to change and/or cancellation in the event of inclement weather or other adverse events. We will make sure we provide ample time prior to the cleanup to notify you if there is a cancellation or change to the time/date.**
