How do you go about cleaning up a creek that’s been an active harbor in Annapolis for well over 300 years? Join the Severn River Association Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. to hear how the Spa Creek Conservancy does just this from their president, Amy Clements.

How do you deal with the legacy of stormwater runoff and other pollution that’s been accumulating since our colonial past — through the nation’s founding years, through the Civil War, two World Wars and generations of Annapolis serving as a harbor to a thriving fishery?

And then are are the challenges created by the advent of the automobile that propelled the rapid development that’s exploded in the 1980’s?

It’s been one step at a time for the Spa Creek Conservancy (SCC).

Amy will explain the various and ongoing ways SCC has tackled this awesome challenge. They’re using a mix of watershed assessments for Spa Creek, targeting one project here, a cove there, to constantly push forward.

The SRA Educational Series meetings are open to the public and free for SRA members. Donations are always welcome!
