Newly planted trees need TLC to survive. Spend several hours to help young trees grow into healthy forests!

Get a start on your New Year’s resolution to spend more time outdoors. The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is looking for tree maintenance volunteers to remove invasive plants from young trees near Loch Raven Reservoir in Baltimore County, MD. We will be offering Tree Maintenance events every Saturday morning in February.

Community service learning hours available. Volunteers need to be at least 13 years old.

When: Please arrive 15 minutes early so you can sign in and receive tools. Please note, that our winter events are weather dependent. You’ll be notified by the event leader if the event has been cancelled.

What to bring: Dress in layers and wear closed-toed shoes (boots are best). Bring a hat, gloves, and a filled water bottle.

Directions: Loch Raven Reservoir area (near Dulaney Valley Road x Stone Hill Road). Please park on the grass on the west side of Dulaney Valley Road just south of Stone Hill Road. Look for a black Prius parked there and park behind it.You can turn around on the entrance road to Loch Raven Skeet and Trap Club if you need to. That address is 12301 Dulaney Valley Road, Phoenix, MD 21131. You don’t need to go all the way to the Skeet and Trap Club, just turn around on the entrance road if you need to so you can park on the west side of Dulaney Valley Road.
