October 14, 2022: Severn Reefs – Using Oysters to Restore Our River
Did you know that oysters are ‘planted’ by the millions in the Severn River each year? In 2022 alone, over 70 million oysters found a home in the Severn! Oysters are a vital part of a healthy river – but have you ever wondered what makes them so special? Where do we plant oysters, and how do they get here? Who participates in oyster restoration, and can I get involved?
Join Jack Turner and Bryan Gomes of the Severn River Association on Friday, October 14 from 6-7:30pm for a Fall Campfire Series on the shores of the Severn River to learn more about these hard-working bivalves. Bring a portable camp chair and share s’mores and stories by the fire – or sit back, relax, and enjoy the evening. a $5.00 registration fee covers program costs. S’mores supplies will be provided.
