Join the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Richmond Parks & Recreation, Richmond Department of Public Utilities and Southside Releaf in planting trees at Blackwell Park!
Volunteers will plant trees and shrubs throughout the park. Trees in our urban areas provide many benefits such as stormwater management, wildlife habitat and shade.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear clothing appropriate for outside work – long sleeves, long pants, and close-toed shoes are recommended. Bring a water bottle. Activities will include preparing trees and tree wells for planting, amending soil, planting trees and mulching and watering around planting sites. If you have never planted a tree before, do not worry. We will provide instruction. All necessary tools will be provided.
Street parking is surrounding the park on Maury and 15th Streets. Parking is also availalbe at the Blackwell Community Center across the street from the park.
Groups welcome.
