Mushrooms don’t grow on trees…or do they? Sunday, May 26 from 1-3 PM at Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, Maryland, discover how to grow your own mushrooms in this fascinating workshop on “log-seeding” – a technique allowing you to create a crop of mushrooms on an old log! Providing B vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants, mushrooms are a valuable source of nutrition. Instructor William Needum is a mushroom expert and current President of the Mycological Association of D.C. Explore the nature of how mushrooms grow, see a demonstration of log-seeding and practice the technique on a sample log. Resources on where to procure mushroom spawn and planting materials are provided.

For ages 18 and up. Program is $15 per person. Please register in advance: or 410-313-0400.
