Join Wildlife and Heritage Service and Maryland Coastal Bays Program staff for an engaging and hands-on professional development workshop. Through activities involving language arts, science and math experiences, Growing UP WILD and Flying WILD offer an interdisciplinary approach to environmental education.
In the morning, we will dive into the award-winning Growing Up WILD curriculum which includes developmentally appropriate activities for preK-2nd grade students. As a group, we will model activities that include early childhood STEM, dramatic play, and more! In the afternoon, we will model activities from the widely adaptable Flying WILD curriculum supplement. Using bids as a focus, we will explore activities that teach about concepts such as adaptations, migration, and bird behaviors.
Throughout the workshop, participants will get to experience activities first-hand. Participants who complete the professional development will receive their own copies of the Growing Up WILD and Flying WILD curriculum supplement guides.
