EVENT DETAILS:

Jason Elliott, NOAA will present on The Ellicott City Floods of 2016 and 2018: When Catastrophe Strikes Twice at the Ellicott Mills Brewing Company!

For the second time in less than two years, Ellicott City was devastated by a flash flood on May 27, 2018. Initial pictures of the flooding on social media were so similar to the 2016 flood that some questioned why old pictures were being reposted.  While images of the resulting destruction had some similarities, the way the 2018 flood developed and occurred was substantially different from the 2016 event. This presentation will compare and contrast the two events from the meteorological and hydrological perspective, and consider the question: were these really “1000-year floods”?

*This event will take place assuming the Government shut down has ended by January 18.

Enjoy free appetizers, cash bar.  Members are free. The cost for non-members is $15.
