Geology Professor Joe Marx will explain how geologists determined a precise age for the Great Falls of the Potomac. Until about 20 years ago, the best estimate of the age of Great Falls was between “several thousand to several million years.” Rock dating techniques that became available in the late 1980s now allow us to give a much better answer.
