Perri Meldon is a public historian who specializes in American
environmental history and has a doctoral degree from Boston University’s
Department of American Studies. Drawing from public history and
experiential methodologies, Meldon shares insights from community
engagement practices across fragile ecosystems in Virginia and Maryland.
Meldon studies Blackwater and Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife
Refuges to understand how people commemorate cultural histories in sites
prized for their ecology.
