Join Maryland Department of Natural Resources, UMD Sea Grant, and UMD Sea Grant Extension for a 90-minute virtual training where we’ll provide an overview of the Maryland Coastal Flood Explorer, run through a tutorial on the tool’s features, and practice applying the tool through Maryland case studies. The Maryland Coastal Flood Explorer has many potential applications for a wide range of end-users. This training is geared towards coastal decision makers, in particular Maryland local governments, working on understanding and planning around flooding in their community.

n this training participants will:

  • Become familiar with the features of and how to navigate the new Maryland Coastal Flood Explorer.
  • Gain an understanding of how the tool can be incorporated into community planning processes and used to identify priority areas for projects.
  • Practice using the tool by applying real world, Maryland, case studies
  • Brainstorm ways participants can apply the tool within the context of their own work.

Participants are encouraged to submit questions and ideas for how you might use the tool in advance. We will try to incorporate some of them into examples used for the training.
