Get your hands dirty for clean water!

The Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, a Baltimore County-based land preservation and watershed restoration non-profit, is seeking volunteers to help create a rain garden at a private residence in Parkville,MD. No gardening experience required!

Got flooding in your backyard? This is the perfect time to learn more about the benefits of incorporating a rain garden into your landscape. Our landscape designers will give a presentation followed by a hands-on gardening opportunity.

A rain garden is a special, water loving garden that helps soak up rain water from your roof or driveway.  It is designed to capture water from a 1” rain storm and slowly infiltrate it back into the ground. By using beautiful, native flowers, grasses and even trees, a rain garden will beautify your yard while reducing stormwater impacts.  It also provides habitat for wildlife, beneficial insects, such as ladybugs, and pollinators like butterflies.
