Do you want to experience amazing topwater fishing action? This time of year coupled with this 7.5-mile stretch of water means you’ll find yourself in the eye of the storm when it comes to perfect topwater smallmouth bass conditions. Just the most enjoyable piece of water around, with 
stunning mountain scenery and a nice mix of gentle, contemplative pools sprinkled with just enough medium-sized (Class II max) rapids and minor riffles to make for a very fun day of fishing. Don’t forget to paddle occasionally so you save room to properly fish Sudden Ledge and Old Mill Race.
Every participant gets a buzzbait handmade by your Shenandoah Riverkeeper, Mark Frondorf. These are virtually unobtainable. Not familiar with a buzzbait? Good! You’re in for a treat! Just remember that buzzbaits warrant the same respect as the first rule of the Fight Club—which is you do not talk about the Fight Club—or in this case you do not talk about the buzzbait. It’s not for the faint of the heart, so buckle your chinstrap. Grass beds, 
current seams, and ledges will do the trick. Please keep in mind that anyone over 16 years of age who will be fishing will need a VA fishing license. Trip will be held rain or shine as long as the river conditions permit safe paddling.
