A fundraiser for Sustainability Matters, hosted by Star in the Valley.
Real wine. Real sheep. And for extra crunch, real Route 11 Potato Chips, paired with the wine! Support Sustainability Matters and celebrate Labor Day weekend from the comfort of your own home, at a virtual wine tasting. Join us via Zoom, with wine & chips shipped directly to your door (unless you choose vineyard pick-up). Ship to any physical address in the continental US!
Sponsored by Chip Schutte-RE/MAX Roots.
It’s a historic event for our national holiday:
– Sustainability Matters’ first fundraising event
– Star in the Valley’s first virtual wine tasting
– and, last but definitely not least, the official debut of Star in the Valley’s new “Woolen Workers”: vineyard weeders, heritage babydoll sheep Yuri & Shep!
Star in the Valley owners – and master sommeliers – Cara Mroczek and Shane Waller will guide us through the tastings, including the Valley’s only “orange” wine (a traditional ancient Greek technique where white wine is fermented with the skins). Shane and Cara will give background on Virginia viticulture too and the challenges facing growers like themselves, who are determined to produce sustainably. Yuri and Shep will demonstrate their weeding techniques and (possibly with some help) explain the part they play in Star in the Valley’s sustainability efforts. There’ll be plenty of time for questions for all. One baa for yes, two baas for no.
Space is limited; REGISTER BY AUGUST 26. Each tasting package entitles you to one Zoom connection to the event, and contains:
– 1 full bottle of 2019 The Astronomer, the only orange wine in the Shenandoah Valley AVA
– 1 half bottle of 2018 Cabernet Franc
– 1 half bottle of 2019 Rosé
– 1 half bottle of 2019 Vidal Blanc
– Route 11 potato chips for the pairings
$150 per tasting package, shipped to your door, OR
$130 per tasting package, picked up at the vineyard
