Help us complete a BioBlitz at Baltimore’s brand new Hillside Park! Join us for a fun group activity identifying and documenting species in Hillside together with the National Aquarium and Hillside Park.
In partnership with the National Aquarium, we are helping Hillside park host their first ever BioBlitz for City Nature Challenge Weekend! The City Nature Challenge is a collaborative effort involving cities all over the world to identify as many wildlife species as possible in their urban setting over a 4-day period using the iNaturalist platform. The National Aquarium is the regional coordinator for the City Nature Challenge for the Baltimore Metropolitan Area, and we are inviting you to join us in helping discover what’s in our city.
The park entrance is at the corner of Falls Road and Hillside Road.
About the City Nature Challenge:
City Nature Challenge is an annual community science competition for cities across the globe to find and document the plants and wildlife found in urban areas. As regional coordinator, the National Aquarium is calling on community scientists to explore, identify and document urban wildlife in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
Participants will use the free iNaturalist app to record the species they find during the challenge. All observations made in the following counties and uploaded to iNaturalist during the challenge will automatically be counted toward Baltimore’s City Nature Challenge totals: Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard and Queen Anne’s counties.
