The Network for Engineering with Nature (N-EWN) invites you to join us for the N-EWN Knowledge Series: A Continuing Education Series about Engineering with Nature.

The next webinar, Consideration of Natural Infrastructure for Flood Hazard Reduction in a Numerical Modeling Framework, will be held on Thursday, July 21st at 12:30 EST, presented by Matthew Bilskie (UGA).

Natural and nature-based features (NNBF) can provide large-scale protective flood benefits for varying storm conditions. Recent research between the USACE ERDC and UGA has found that marsh and barrier island landscapes add value when designing flood protection infrastructure. Using controlled numerical modeling experiments, hundreds of simulations have resulted in an initial set of design curves to predict flood attenuation based on landscape features. Ultimately, this information will be consolidated to inform landscape-scale implementation of NNBFs for flood protection
