The Chesapeake Oyster Alliance invites you to attend the 2nd Annual Chesapeake Oyster Science Symposium on September 29th, where the fields of oyster restoration, aquaculture, and research converge to explore cutting-edge innovation and collaboration in the oyster world.

We are assembling an all-star lineup of oyster experts, academic faculty, and industry practitioners across multiple panel discussions in a dynamic format, featuring over 20 speakers, with succinct presentations and ample Q&A around each topic. The Symposium will also host a round of “lightning talks” by young scientists and early career professionals (attendees may self-select to present when they register).

The Symposium will be focused on emerging science and innovative approaches to advance the oyster population of Chesapeake Bay, but we welcome attendees from all locations (e.g., the East, Gulf, and West Coasts, and international audiences). The program is designed for all oyster practitioners and those considering entering the fields of oyster restoration, aquaculture, or research. We welcome under- and post- graduate students, non-profit and governmental staff, oyster growers, watermen, business owners and the many others invested in the recovery of the Chesapeake Bay oyster.

The Symposium will be held online via Zoom on Thursday, September 29th from 10:30 am – 4:00 pm EST. Registration is free for COA partners and $10 for non-COA partners. To register, please complete the online form.

If you are a graduate student and would like to make a 5-7 minute presentation on your research during the Lightning Round, you may provide a brief description of your research during registration. Student abstract submissions are due by September 9th.

We hope that you’ll join us to hear from leading oyster experts about new technologies, advances in monitoring, and inclusive and cooperative approaches being used to expand Chesapeake Bay oyster populations.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this announcement with your colleagues and fellow oyster enthusiasts!
