DC Metro Area Volunteers at Chesapeake Stewards (VoiCeS): Fall 2025
Join us for CBF’s adult education program, Volunteers as Chesapeake Stewards, or VoiCeS, hosted in Washington, DC. This class is open to residents of DC and its metro areas in Maryland and Virginia.
CBF created the VoiCeS program in 2004 to reach out to local volunteers and their communities and create a deeper understanding of the Bay and the efforts to restore it. VoiCeS is CBF’s most in-depth adult education program available to its members and the public.
The course will feature different speakers each week who are experts in their field. We will learn about a variety of topics impacting the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers and the greater Chesapeake Bay watershed. There will also be field experiences offered on Saturdays.
Participants who attend all six classes, one field experience, and complete 10 volunteer or advocacy hours will receive CBF’s designation as a Chesapeake Steward.
Class topics will include:
- Getting to Know Your Watershed
- Urban Stormwater and Green Infrastructure
- Environmental Justice
- Data Centers
- Menhaden and Fisheries Impact
- Regenerative Agriculture
- And MORE!
This intensive multi-week program is held on six consecutive Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 p.m., running from October 9 to November 13, 2025. Participants are expected to attend at least five of the six sessions.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED: $20
Registration deadline: October 3, 2025
We are excited to have you engage and connect with like-minded folks who are excited and willing to learn from passionate experts in the Chesapeake Bay region. If you have additional questions about the class or if cost is a barrier to your participation, please reach out to Annabelle Harvey, aharvey@cbf.org
