In December 2025, the Chesapeake Bay Program formally approved a new BMP Expert Panel report that updates the Urban Nutrient Management BMPs under the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). This webinar will cover the latest science and best practices around fertilizer management on urban and suburban lawns and turf, and discuss the new requirements for tracking and reporting the BMP.

Speaker Bios:

David Wood

David is the Executive Director of the Chesapeake Stormwater Network. David also serves as the Technical Coordinator for the EPA Chesapeake Bay Program’s Urban Stormwater Workgroup, where he leads the evaluation of new stormwater practices and approaches to reduce nutrients and sediments for the Chesapeake Bay TMDL. David has his BA in Biology from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Peter Landschoot

Peter is an Emeritus Professor at Pennsylvania State University, where he served as the resident turfgrass management specialist for Penn State Extension for 35 years. Dr. Landschoot’s expertise includes integrated turfgrass pest management, use of composts as soil amendments, turfgrass species & variety evaluation, and soil fertility/turfgrass fertilization. His recent work focused on addressing nutrient management issues in turfgrass systems. Dr. Landschoot served on the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Urban/Suburban/Rural Watershed Implementation Plan Committee, which was instrumental in developing a plan to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s total maximum daily load goals for reduced nitrogen and phosphorus. He also served on the most recent Expert Panel to update Recommendations for Urban Nutrient Management Practices in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Dr. Landschoot has his BS and MS in Agronomy from Penn State University, and his PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Rhode Island.
