About Our Speaker

Dan Benarcik began as a plant scientist–with an early specialization in native plants, at the Mt. Cuba Center.  He currently serves as an innovative horticulturist at Chanticleer Gardens, and is a popular teacher about groundcovers at Longwood Gardens.  Along the way he’s also worked for commercial growers, published in national gardening magazines, and made television appearances on episodes of “Cultivating Life.”  In his wide variety of public presentations, he has described his career as a “persistent collision of horticulture, art, teaching, and design.”  Throughout, the people-plant relationship has always been his focus.
