Webinar: Citizen Tree Monitoring Training Toolkit

Penn State Extension Community Forestry Management Monthly Webinar Series

Tuesday, March 21, 2017, 12 PM – 1 PM (Eastern Time)

Monitoring the survival and growth of tree planting projects is critical to evaluate their performance. In this webinar, Mark Hockley with DCNR Bureau of Forestry and Dr. Lara Roman with US Forest Service Northern Research Station present a street tree monitoring pilot program prepared in Harrisburg, PA, during summer 2016. The program used citizen scientists and the new PATreeMap data collection tool to engage the public in tracking trees. Mark and Lara will present project background and discuss tools for more cities to engage citizen scientists with tree monitoring – including training slides, field guides, and tips for running a successful monitoring effort.
