Part 1 of 3 in a webinar series from the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, Maryland Departments of Environment and Natural Resources, and Maryland Sea Grant on behalf of the Maryland Commission on Climate Change and its workgroups. The webinar series is offered in three parts between December 2021 and January 2022. The first webinar, Accounting for Maryland’s Blue Carbon, taking place December 8, 1-3pm, will explore the readiness of blue carbon science in Maryland to support the state greenhouse gas inventory and restoration projects interested in accessing carbon markets. Framing questions for the discussion include: What do we know about these ecosystems now? Where are the remaining uncertainties? Where should research focus to reduce these uncertainties? How could the state support the advancement of blue carbon science and its applications? Breakout sessions will provide an opportunity for participants to take a deeper dive into key topics and questions.
