The Anne Arundel County Forestry Board sponsors the Anne Arundel Weed Resistance, a community of volunteers committed to reducing invasive plant species in our forests.  Tracts of forest land throughout the County are being negatively affected by invasive plant species that are degrading habitat and destroying the advanced regeneration necessary for the forests to thrive and be sustainable.

The Anne Arundel Weed Resistance is an organization of volunteer weed warriors striving to make a difference in the forests and natural areas of Anne Arundel County. This is an established organization that is growing with a core group of volunteers that are constantly active. The selected candidate will coordinate and train volunteers in invasive plant identification and the appropriate removal and control methods. This is a hands-on, outside-in-the-cold, and heat job.  But also nice warm sunny days too.   Prepare to get dirty!  This is an AmeriCorps position through Volunteer Maryland and will require a 11-month commitment.  The full description of the position and how to apply are included in the link below.

The Anne Arundel Weed Resistance volunteer coordinator will be responsible for recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers that help to remove invasive plants from the forests of our county.  The coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining records, and the website and Facebook pages of the organization.  The coordinator will represent the program at Invasive Species meetings as needed.  Applicants should have a degree in the biological sciences and\or Environmental Science, with knowledge of websites, word processing and spreadsheets.  Applicants should have their own transportation.
