Apply to be a Research Experience for Teacher (RET) Fellow!
The RET Fellow will participate in authentic urban ecological research alongside a professional scientist, assist a team of high school students in data collection and analysis and be part of a professional scientific community focused on understanding Baltimore as an urban ecosystem.
The Fellow will spend seven weeks this summer working with Dr. Christine Hawn (UMBC), both in the lab and the field, to study how pharmaceuticals and personal care products are impacting aquatic and terrestrial food webs. The Fellow also will mentor a team of six high school students participating in the Parks & People Foundation summer Branches program with data collection and analysis.
The Fellow will produce a scientific poster for the BES Annual Meeting and lesson plans for the classroom based on her/his research.
The Fellow will receive: $1000/week stipend, up to $200 for summer research and travel expenses, and $300 for classroom supplies.
