Responsibilities

This permanent, full-time position serves as Program Manager/Chief for Communication & Visitor Experience in the NPS Chesapeake Bay Office. The primary focus of this position is the oversight, direction, and management of all communications and outreach, interpretive and educational strategies, programming and materials, and youth programs. The incumbent performs diversified professional duties involved in a broad and, in many cases, highly technical variety of problems over a broad geographic area (six states and the District of Columbia). The work is complicated by requirements to comply with highly detailed standards established by Congress and other Federal agencies. The incumbent’s work requires the consideration of many resources, complex inter-related ecological processes and visitor use considerations. The employee must be very skilled at setting priorities to ensure that critical issues receive adequate treatment. This involves weighing the relative merits of a wide range of planning and resource management projects, dealing with many complex issues, each having its own degree of urgency, significance and scope of influence.

Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel for this position 1 – 5 nights per month.
