Responsibilities

Serves as Supervisory Program Manager/Chief for Gateways Partnerships and Grants in the NPS Chesapeake Bay Office. The primary focus of this position is the oversight, direction, and management of all NPS Chesapeake partnership strategies, programming, and financial assistance and partnership agreements, including the Chesapeake Gateways Grants Assistance Program. The incumbent performs diversified professional duties involved in a broad and often highly technical variety of challenges over a large geographic area (six states and the District of Columbia). The work is complicated by a myriad of mission objectives established by Congress, developed in partnership with other Federal and state agencies, and in fulfillment of NPS responsibilities related to the Chesapeake Bay Initiative Ave of 1998 andExecutive Order 13508 – Chesapeake Bay Protection and Restoration. The work is a dynamic exercise in helping shape the conservation and community engagement agenda for the Chesapeake Bay watershed while extending the influence and impact of the National Park Service in meeting those objectives. The Partnerships Chief must embody a generous, inclusive spirit in engaging and elevating our partners, helping them accomplish shared programmatic and project objectives while adhering to Federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes. The employee must be very skilled at weighing the relative merits of a wide range of planning and resource management projects and setting priorities to ensure that critical issues and opportunities receive appropriate and timely responses.
