Maryland League of Conservation Voters (Maryland LCV) and Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (Maryland LCV EF) are hiring a Clean Energy Organizer for its Climate Policy & Justice program. This is a full-time, grant-funded position. Funds have been secured for 2026. The position may be extended based on continued availability of funds after December 2026.
The role’s primary responsibility will be to support our mission of creating and protecting a healthy environment for everyone in Maryland and building support for Maryland’s clean energy future. Activities include public education, strategic communications, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and coalition support. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with good time management and communication skills, as well as someone who values community leadership.
This position reports to the Director of Climate Policy & Justice and works closely with staff across the policy and communications teams, as well as community partners.
Responsibilities:
●Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, leaders, and institutions, with a focus on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore and offshore wind.
●Support the Offshore Wind Alliance.
●Track state and local offshore wind investments, project approvals, policy issues, and opportunities for intervention and advocacy.
●Collaborate with coalition leaders and community members to identifycampaign needs and develop strategy.
●Help design and carry out issue-based campaigns.
●Recruit volunteers through door-knocking, presentations, one-on-one meetings, and calls.
●Participate in public engagement events, including public hearings. Support community members in growing their leadership skills.
●Track and report on activities and metrics, and capture success stories for grant reporting and future funding proposals. Qualifications:
●1-2 years of experience in grassroots or community organizing, including outreach, training, campaign planning, and coalition-building (volunteer and campus roles included).
●Experience working in and with Lower Eastern Shore communities.
●Strong commitment to environmental justice and amplifying community leadership.
●Skilled at relationship-building, problem-solving, and communicating clearly.
●Able to conduct basic research and navigate political dynamics.
●Comfortable using Google Workspace (G Suite).
The ideal candidate also brings:
●Experience working across lines of difference (e.g., race, gender, political affiliation, and socioeconomic background).
●Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Salary and Compensation: Salary range: $45,000 – $51,000. Maryland LCV and Maryland LCV EF offer a competitive non-profit salary depending on qualifications and experience. Position Requirements: This full-time, temporary, grant-funded position is located on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore. Funding has been secured for one-year for this position. After one year, the position may be extended or convert to a permanent position based on continued availability of funds. This position is eligible for remote work. Regular travel to the headquarters offi ce in Annapolis is required as needed. Candidates must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
