Coast Kids Program Director
Location: Worcester and Wicomico Counties, Maryland

Position Summary:
Assateague Coastal Trust (ACT) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to serve as
the Coast Kids Program Director. This full-time position leads ACT’s youth environmental
education efforts through the Coast Kids program, which includes organizing and implementing
the Nature Explorers Summer Enrichment Program, teaching in-school science programs
across multiple counties, and coordinating engaging family-friendly outdoor events year-round.

Key Responsibilities:
● Summer Programming:
Plan, coordinate, and lead three to four weeks of the Nature Explorers outdoor summer
camp, licensed by the Maryland Department of Health. Each camp day is held at a
different outdoor location across Worcester and Wicomico Counties.
● School Year Education:
Develop lesson plans and deliver high-quality environmental education programs to
students across grade levels in public and private schools. Maintain and grow
educational partnerships with the Worcester County Board of Education and private
schools; work to establish new partnerships in Wicomico and Somerset Counties.
● Monthly Family Events:
Organize and lead weekend environmental activities for Coast Kids families, such as
kayaking trips, native bee nesting box construction, and birding outings.
● Communications & Outreach:
Engage Coast Kids members and the public through email, website updates, social
media, and in-person outreach. Represent Coast Kids at community events.
● Administrative & Development Support:
Maintain the Coast Kids membership database, prepare quarterly reports, and support
the Executive Director with grant writing and fundraising activitiesQualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in a related field; i.e. environment, communications, education
(required)
● Experience teaching and leading educational programs (preferred) ● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
● Passion for environmental education and working with children
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
● Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Wix, Mailchimp, and
Watergrass (Salesforce-based database) preferred
● Clean criminal background check required
● Valid driver’s license required
● Ability to lift up to 40 lbs overhead and walk long distances outdoors
● Kayak instructor certification and First Aid/CPR certification (preferred)

Work Schedule:
This position is full-time, and in-person. Including occasional weekend and evening work to
support events and outreach.
