Community Resilience Coordinator – State of MD DNR

Main Purpose of Job

The position functions within the Center for Resilient Communities and Landscapes Program, within the Watershed and Climate Service, and will assist the Climate Resilience Program and the Community Partnership Program (Program), Program Manager and staff in building and maintaining impactful relationships with local governments, community partners, networks and non-profits. The goal of the position is to provide strategic outreach, capacity, and technical assistance to constituents across Maryland, specifically those in overburdened and underserved areas. The Program and this position aim to increase both fiscal and programmatic resource opportunities toward implementing restoration and resilience projects. Other job responsibilities include coordinating and attending meetings and outdoor site visits, state and/or federal grant management, and planning events or workshops for specific communities. As a Community Resilience Coordinator, part of this position involves engaging and assisting diverse and under-represented communities to ascertain the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake environmental actions related to restoration, conservation, access, and inclusion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
